1 – Compose a list of questions regarding your loan program

Make sure you bring a list of questions if you find that you don't completely grasp the ins and outs of the various loan programs. I or one of my lender contacts will be able to help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of both programs, because it can be hard to know the differences between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.

2 – Determine when to lock

By locking in the interest rate, a lender is keeping to the interest rates for the loan – generally at the time the loan application is submitted. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between the day of your loan application and issuance of closing documents. 3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to decrease your rate
